The contextual menus provides convenient access to often-used commands. They open when the user presses the Control key while clicking on appropriate interface elements or selections. The interface elements include the area on your Finder desktop whereas the selections include files, folders and disks. During the idle state, the user will not see the contextual menus, the menus will be visible only when the user want to show it.
The above picture illustrates a responding event when the user Control-click on a folder named "Aqua Icons" while the Launch Items X contextual menu has been installed. The user who has a two-buttons mouse can also use Right-click to open the contextual menus. The Right-click action of the Mac OS X resembles the Right-click action of Microsoft Windows. The contextual menu is not a system hack. It is a type of system plugins and fully compatible with Mac OS X.
