Introduction


Folder Contents CM is a Mac OS X-compatible contextual menu plugin (CM) which allows users to access folder contents by control-clicking on that folder. The engine can also view the contents of the packages, including application packages. The contents are displayed on icon-decorated hierarchical menus where users can browse the folder contents to unlimited depth. Folder Contents CM has ability to handle disks, files, folders, aliases, symbolic links, and invisible objects.

The concept of contextual menu is to show a set of commands on a floating menu. Normally, this menu is invisible. It will be loaded or shown only when users hold down the Control key, and then click on the desktop. Users who have two-buttons mouse can use right-click to show the contextual menu.

Advanced Options

The Advanced Options window allows users to handle the properties of the selected object by holding down the Command key while selecting the menu item. The advanced options consist of:

 

  • Ability to open the selected object with the Finder.
  • Ability to show the selected object in the Finder.
  • Ability to remove the resource fork of the selected file.
  • Ability to delete the selected object without any warning message.
  • Ability to rename the selected object. Users can edit the prohibited name, such as a name started with dot ( . ) character.
  • Ability to ask a customized application to open the selected object.
  • Ability to change type and creator of the selected object.
  • Ability to lock and unlock files.
  • Ability to change visibility of the object.
  • Ability to show or hide the file extension.
  • and more.

 

 

Please note that the Open With popup menu is for opening the selected object with a customized application. If the Launch Items X is installed, the popup menu can show the customized applications added by the Launch Items module.
